QUESTION 1:

How many TRA genes in the human genome?
Where are they localized?


ANSWER to question 1:

The total number of the human TRA genes per haploid genome is 116 (including the 5 TRAV/DV genes):
    * the 116 genes are localized in human TRA locus on chromosome 14 at 14q11.2
    * the TRD locus described elsewhere is embedded in the TRA locus (the total number of human TRA and TRD genes is 127)
    * there is no known TRA orphon.
