Sterile transcript
A Sterile transcript, also designated as "germline transcript" in the literature, refer to:
- an unspliced or spliced cDNA containing a L-V-SEQUENCE, D-SEQUENCE, J-SEQUENCE or J-C-SEQUENCE in germline configuration
- or an unspliced or spliced partially rearranged L-V-D-SEQUENCE, D-J-SEQUENCE or D-J-C-SEQUENCE
- or an unspliced or spliced C-SEQUENCE.
Sterile transcript may be queried in the IMGT/LIGM-DB Keywords module.
In IMGT, "germline" is used to characterize the gene configuration. Therefore, the keyword "Sterile transcript" is prefered to "germline transcript".
