IMGT/GENE-DB

IMGT/GENE-DB [1] is part of IMGT, the international ImMunoGeneTics information system® http://www.imgt.org [2].

IMGT/GENE-DB, created by LIGM (Université Montpellier II, CNRS), is the first IMGT genome database, on the Web since January 2003. IMGT/GENE-DB allows a search per gene name and is based on the CLASSIFICATION concept of IMGT-ONTOLOGY. IMGT/GENE-DB includes links to IMGT/LIGM-DB, IMGT Repertoire and external databases. IMGT/GENE-DB contains information on all the human immunoglobulin (IG) and T cell receptor (TR) genes.

All the human IG and TR genes are known and all the IMGT gene names [3-6] were approved by the HUGO Nomenclature Committee (HGNC) in 1999 [7] and entered in the Genome DataBase NCBI genome and in Entrez Gene at NCBI (USA). Links to the HGNC Genew, Entrez Gene and GeneCards IG and TR entries are available from IMGT/GENE-DB entries and from the List of human IG and TR genes.

IMGT/GENE-DB reference sequences allow interoperability with HGNC (sequences, in FASTA format, of the alleles *01 of the human IG and TR genes sent to HGNC on the 13/02/2003).

The mouse IG and TR gene names with IMGT reference sequences were provided by IMGT to HGNC and to the Mouse Genome Database MGD in July 2002.
