The human IGH locus is in reverse orientation: being located on the chromosome long arm, the 5' end of the locus is telomeric and the 3' end is centromeric.
In IMGT/GeneSearch, IMGT/GeneView and IMGT/LocusView:
The IGH locus starts with the 5' end of AB019437.
Clones (in blue) are those used for the sequencing of the human IGH locus. Note that only part of AC084717 (continuous DNA sequence from 1 to 46566 bp) has been taken into account.
The localization of the IGHC genes between IGHG3 and IGHA1, and between IGHG2 and IGHA2 is from cosmid analysis [1].
The distance between the IGHA1 and IGHG2, estimated to 100 kb, and the IGHGP gene localization between IGHA1 and IGHG2, are from IGHC multigene deletions analysis in healthy individuals [2, 3, 4].
The distance between IGHE-CH4 and IGHE-M1 is estimated to 2,5 kb.
